If you are an Android user, you probably open the Google Play Store frequently to install, update, or search for apps. But since last year’s redesign, the search bar has been moved to the bottom as a button, meaning you need to tap twice before typing your search.
This can feel like an unnecessary extra step, especially for users who open the Play Store many times a day. The good news? There’s a simple trick to speed things up.
Next time you open the Play Store, double-tap the Search button in the bottom bar. This skips the first step and immediately opens the search box, letting you type right away. It works not just for apps, but also for books, movies, and other Play Store content.
Google has also been rolling out other useful features like an “auto-open when ready” toggle, which automatically launches an app once it’s installed — perfect if you forget to open it manually.
This hidden shortcut is small but saves a lot of time for regular users. Try it next time and make your Play Store experience smoother and faster.
