Tech-tycoon Elon Musk’s AI company xAI has officially unveiled Grokipedia, an online encyclopedia built entirely by the Grok chatbot with over 800,000 entries at launch.
Musk positions this as a “truth-seeking knowledge base” and a dramatic improvement over Wikipedia, which he has long criticised for alleged ideological bias.
Unlike Wikipedia’s volunteer-based editing model, Grokipedia uses AI to generate and vet content, and users cannot directly edit articles - instead they submit correction requests. Early reviews, however, point to questionable accuracy and ideological leanings: some entries reportedly echo far-right talking points, raising concerns over bias.
While staunch conservative users praise how Grokipedia handles politically charged topics, critics warn that replacing human editorial oversight with AI may undermine factual integrity.
Grokipedia is now live in version 0.1, with Musk already hinting at a version 1.0 that will be “10× better”.
