Delhi CM Rekha Gupta advocates Cloud Seeding to combat winter pollution!

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has highlighted the necessity of cloud seeding to mitigate the city's escalating winter pollution. Following a successful trial in Burari, the government plans its first artificial rain operation on October 29, 2025, aiming to reduce hazardous particulate matter levels.

Gupta described the initiative as a pioneering step, stating, "Cloud seeding is a necessity for Delhi and is the first experiment of its kind. We want to try it in Delhi to see if it can help us control this very serious environmental problem."

The project, a collaboration between the Delhi government and IIT Kanpur, involves dispersing silver iodide and sodium chloride into clouds to induce rainfall, potentially alleviating the city's severe air quality issues.

While some experts express skepticism about the method's efficacy, Gupta remains optimistic about its potential to address Delhi's persistent environmental challenges.
