In Nanded, Maharashtra, a Hindi‑speaking attendant at a public toilet near the state transport bus stand was assaulted by MNS workers on July 23, 2025 for refusing to speak Marathi. The dispute began when locals asked him to use Marathi. He replied he would not, prompting physical attacks slaps and punches captured on video. The attackers forced him to repeat a scripted apology: “I apologise to Marathi people and to Raj Thackeray”
Footage circulated widely and was shared among local MNS leaders including Nanded city chief Shubham Patil. Despite public outrage, no FIR was registered by Wednesday evening, drawing criticism over lack of action.
This event adds to recent incidents across Maharashtra where MNS members enforced Marathi language and attacked those speaking Hindi in Mira‑Bhayander and Thane, even forcing apologies or physical punishment.
The cases have triggered protests, traders’ strikes, legal notices, and calls for strong police intervention.
