PM Modi reacts to Jagdeep Dhankhar's exit as Vice President!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended warm wishes for Jagdeep Dhankhar’s recovery after his abrupt resignation as Vice President of India on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons .

In a post on X, Modi acknowledged Dhankhar’s contributions across various roles and wrote, “Wishing him good health.” He emphasized that Dhankhar “has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities”, spotlighting the Vice President’s dedicated public service.

Earlier this week, Dhankhar submitted his resignation under Article 67(a) of the Constitution, stating he must “prioritise health care and abide by medical advice,” and extended his gratitude to President Murmu, PM Modi, the Council of Ministers, and Members of Parliament.

The resignation marks the first time a sitting Vice President has resigned mid-term in India. Political circles are abuzz as the ruling alliance has initiated consultations to select Dhankhar’s successor, a process constitutionally required to conclude within six months .

Modi’s gracious response underscores a respectful tone at the highest echelons of Indian governance during this unexpected political transition.
