PM Modi slams global hypocrisy on terrorism at G7 summit

On Day 2 of the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged world leaders to take decisive, uniform action against terrorism and other threats to global peace. He criticized the “double standards” that allow some nations to continue supporting or sheltering terrorists without repercussions.

During the G7 Outreach session, Modi declared, “Countries that openly support terrorism are rewarded,” reinforcing his call for a robust global consensus to combat terror networks. He positioned terrorism alongside issues like human smuggling and repression, advocating for a united response from the international community.

Modi’s address came after former U.S. President Trump left the summit earlier to address Middle East tensions, but world leaders remained resolute. A joint statement from G7 participants reaffirmed commitments to tackle trafficking and repression. Modi emphasized that these challenges—not just localized conflicts—require coordinated global action.
