Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' could cost Indians more than you think!

President Trump's massive spending bill, cleared by Congress, will significantly impact Indians through multiple channels. The legislation introduces a 1% tax on remittances to foreign countries from January 2026, reduced from the originally proposed 5%. This affects 4.5 million Indians in the US who send money home.

Immigration enforcement receives billions in additional funding for Trump's promised "largest mass deportation operation." Around 18,000 Indians who entered illegally have been identified, with India agreeing to repatriate them.

The bill also raises fees for legal immigration processes: asylum applications now cost $100 minimum, work permits $550, and humanitarian parole $1,000. Foreign-source rental income taxation rules remain unchanged for US residents.
