In an educational milestone, Arunachal Pradesh unveiled the Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory at Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School in Shi-Yomi district. Established through a collaboration between ISRO and the Muskaan Foundation, the lab is designed to immerse students in space science via hands-on experimentation and technology-driven learning.
The facility’s name honors the late father of Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, symbolizing his enduring belief in education as a transformative force. “Today marks an emotional and proud moment… this laboratory is not just an educational facility, it is a tribute to his unwavering belief in the power of education and curiosity,” the minister reflected during the inauguration.
Officials including the Shi-Yomi Deputy Commissioner, local education leaders, teachers, and students attended the launch, reinforcing the lab’s role as a hub for learning and innovation. The project aims to ignite scientific curiosity and pave the way for future tech talent emerging from the region’s most remote corners.
At a time when access to quality STEM education remains uneven, this initiative bridges geographic barriers and opens a pathway for students to "dream bigger, explore science fearlessly, and reach for the stars."
