Indian security agencies have conclusively established that the three terrorists killed during Operation Mahadev on July 28 were Pakistani nationals and senior operatives of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), ruling out local involvement in the Pahalgam attack .
Evidence includes Pakistani government-issued voter ID slips, biometric NADRA data, satellite phone logs, and GPS waypoints, precisely matching the attackers’ movements and firing positions as per eyewitness accounts . Forensic ballistics matched recovered AK-103 rifles to shell casings at the attack site, and mitochondrial DNA confirmed the attackers' identities .
Additional forensic clues included Pakistani-brand chocolates, voter IDs, and digital footprints tracked to safe houses in Muzaffarabad and Karachi. The terrorists reportedly crossed the Line of Control via the Gurez sector in May 2022, confirmed by intercepted radio check-ins from the Pakistani side.
Home Minister Amit Shah also unveiled evidence in parliament - including the voter IDs and chocolates - to back India’s attribution of nationality. The findings align with broader investigation reports linking the Pahalgam operation to cross-border control and coordination by ISI-backed networks.
