Siraj penalised for 'aggressive' celebration against Duckett!

India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been penalised by the ICC for a breach of the Code of Conduct during Day 4 at Lord’s. The incident occurred after England opener Ben Duckett was dismissed, when Siraj celebrated too close, making physical contact as Duckett headed back - an action deemed to violate Article 2.5 of the Code for actions that could provoke an aggressive reaction.

Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee and received one demerit point, bringing his total to two within 24 months—another offence could trigger a suspension. The bowler accepted the sanction without a formal hearing, as recommended by match referee Richie Richardson.

The action was sparked by former England captain Alastair Cook, who called Siraj’s celebration “crossing the line,” urging a firm penalty. The ICC sided with Cook, reinforcing standards around fair on-field conduct.

This stands as one of several intense moments in a Test likely heading to a thrilling conclusion on Day 5 - Siraj earlier claimed four wickets in the session.
