One-shoulder bags might be trendy, but they can seriously mess with your body. Carrying a heavy bag on one side leads to muscle strain, chronic pain, pinched nerves, and even long-term spinal issues.
The upper trapezius muscle, which runs from your shoulder to your skull, takes on the extra load - leading to neck pain and headaches.
Over time, this habit can straighten your neck's natural curve, increasing pressure on spinal discs. This shift causes inflammation, osteoarthritis, and nerve compression - aka chronic misery. If you have to rock a one-shoulder bag, choose a smaller size, switch sides often, and go for a thick strap.
Backpacks are a better option - they distribute weight evenly and reduce strain. Just remember: don't carry more than 5–10% of your body weight. Your future spine will thank you.
