Many myths surround deodorant and antiperspirant use, but science clears up the confusion.
Contrary to popular belief, deodorants do not stop sweating - they simply mask body odor.
Only antiperspirants, which contain aluminum compounds, can block sweat by temporarily plugging sweat glands. Another common misconception is that the body "gets used to" deodorant over time, making it less effective. In reality, no scientific evidence supports this; if a product works for you, it will continue to do so.
Concerns about aluminum in antiperspirants causing cancer or Alzheimer’s disease have also been widely debunked by health authorities like the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association.
Lastly, while many people apply deodorant in the morning, studies suggest that applying antiperspirant at night is more effective because sweat glands are less active, allowing the product to work better.
Understanding these facts allows consumers to use deodorants confidently, focusing on personal hygiene without unnecessary worry.
