On July 30, 2025, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia detailed five major steps taken by the Indian government to combat cybercrime, during a Lok Sabha session.
- Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C): Established under the Ministry of Home Affairs, I4C serves as a central hub to manage all cybercrime-related coordination across states, including funding, advisories, and logistics
- National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal & Toll‑Free Helpline: A public-facing platform and helpline number 1930 enable easy lodging of cybercrime reports, especially aiding victims of scams, women, and children.
- Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting System: This system swiftly addresses financial cyber fraud, saving over ₹3,400 crore across nearly 10 lakh cases so far.
- Joint Cyber Coordination Teams (JCCTs): Seven regional JCCTs across hotspot areas like Jamtara, Mewat, and Hyderabad strengthen cross-jurisdiction cooperation among state law enforcement agencies.
- National Cyber Forensic Laboratory: A state-of-the-art forensic lab in Delhi supports law enforcement with technical assistance over 11,000 cases processed with forensic support.
Beyond infrastructure, the government has ramped up cyber awareness campaigns, issued advisories, trained LEA personnel, and disseminated safety messages via SMS and social media under the CyberDost initiative.
