India has unveiled its squad for the World Archery Championships in Gwangju (September 5–12), showcasing a blend of proven talent and emerging stars. Leading the charge in recurve are Dhiraj Bommadevara, Deepika Kumari, and Ankita Bhakat, while compound specialist Jyothi Surekha Vennam rounds out the lineup.
Dhiraj, a bronze medallist at the World Cup's Auburndale stage and Paris Olympian, secured his spot with top-quartile performances during national trials . Deepika, India’s former world No. 1 and two-time World Cup Final medallist, brings immense experience to the championship stage . Ankita, a Paris 2024 Olympian and consistent recurve shooter, earned her place through strong showing at trials .
On the compound side, Jyothi, India's most decorated female compound archer with multiple World Championship and Asian Games titles, leads the charge .
The team reflects India's strategic mix of youth and experience, formed in response to a shake-up in national selections. With the World Cup circuit proving demanding, India is poised to fight for medals in both recurve and compound events this September.
