India to be world’s third biggest economy : Piyush Goyal hits back at Trump’s jibe!

Addressing Parliament amid heightened trade tensions with the U.S., Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal strongly rejected former President Donald Trump’s recent characterization of India as a “dead economy". Goyal reaffirmed that India remains the fastest-growing large economy globally and is projected to become the third-largest economy by 2027 on the back of strong fundamentals and reform momentum.

Highlighting India’s macroeconomic resilience, Goyal cited record forex reserves, inflation under control at around 3%, a robust banking system, and brisk FDI inflows. He underscored the government’s ambitious goal of transforming India into a $5 trillion economy through inclusive, sustainable growth aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision.

Furthermore, Goyal issued a firm assurance: India would safeguard the interests of its farmers, workers, and entrepreneurs against the backdrop of a newly announced 25% U.S. tariff on Indian goods. He reiterated India’s commitment to negotiate fair trade terms without compromising national interests.

This confident projection anchored in structural strength and diplomatic assertiveness reflects India's resolve to navigate external shocks and solidify its global economic standing.
