As summer sets in, many homeowners are encountering an unsettling trend- a rise in spider sightings. But experts say these eight-legged visitors may be more helpful than harmful. Deepak Sharma of the India Pest Control Company explains that soaring temperatures lead to insect population booms, which in turn attract spiders seeking food and mates. "Spiders follow the pests," Sharma notes, "and the dry heat often pushes them into cooler, darker corners of homes."
But don't reach for the slipper just yet- killing spiders may backfire. Some, like wolf spiders, carry eggs that can burst upon impact, multiplying your problem. “They're nature's pest control,” says Sharma, consuming thousands of disease-carrying insects in a lifetime.
Instead, he recommends natural repellents like peppermint oil and sealing cracks and vents. Spotting spiders may be a red flag for deeper pest infestations- and a reason to call in the pros.
