July is shaping up to be a powerhouse month at the box office, with five highly anticipated blockbusters topping Rotten Tomatoes’ most‑anticipated list. Leading the pack is Superman (July 11), the DC Studios relaunch from James Gunn featuring David Corenswet as Clark Kent alongside Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. Notably, it eschews origin‑story clichés to focus on deeper character exploration.
Opening two days earlier on July 2 is Jurassic World: Rebirth, a return to dinosaur mayhem directed by Gareth Edwards and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. With a cast that includes Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, the film continues the franchise’s legacy.
Following is The Old Guard 2 (July 2), the Netflix action‑fantasy sequel reuniting audiences with Charlize Theron’s immortals as new threats emerge. Eddington (July 18), from Ari Aster, offers a dark, pandemic‑set neo‑Western starring Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal, marking a tonal shift in the summer line‑up.
Rounding off the top five is The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25), Marvel’s first formal introduction of the First Family into the MCU, featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss‑Bachrach, with crossover stakes hinted early.
With franchises being rebooted and cinematic universes expanding, July 2025 promises a dynamic mix of superheroes, sci‑fi, and reinvigorated sagas.
