The move follows India's crackdown on 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including Dawn News and ARY News, for spreading provocative and misleading content.

These digital measures come in the aftermath of The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, claiming responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. In response, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, shut the Attari border crossing, and downgraded diplomatic ties, as evidence mounts of cross-border links to the attack.
