IPL Crisis: Why Overseas Players Are Desperately Booking Flights Home?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) faces an uncertain future as India-Pakistan border tensions escalate dramatically. Following air raid alerts and blackouts across northern India on Thursday, the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned midway, heightening fears among foreign players. According to IPL sources, several overseas cricketers and staff have expressed urgent requests to fly back home, citing security concerns.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stated that while Friday's Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match will go ahead, the situation is under continuous review. “We're evaluating developments and will act in everyone's best interests,” he noted.

The abandoned match and relocated fixtures like shifting the May 11 Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians game to Ahmedabad, underscore growing disruptions. With India conducting precision strikes in Pakistan and PoK after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, the conflict's ripple effect on cricket's biggest T20 league could force unprecedented decisions in the days ahead.
