A massive adulterated paneer racket operating across Delhi-NCR has been busted by Noida police. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck carrying 14 quintals of fake paneer.
Four men from Aligarh, including the main accused Guddu alias Rish, were arrested. The racket had been active for over six months, supplying chemically-curdled paneer to street vendors and eateries at half the market rate.
The production process involved boiling agricultural starch beans, mixing them with chemical whiteners, poster colors, and a mysterious blue compound to curdle the mix.
Some batches also used milk powder and palmolin oil for a more ‘authentic’ appearance.
Food safety officials warn that these ingredients pose serious health risks.
Samples have been sent for lab testing, and more arrests are likely. Legal action under both IPC and food safety laws is underway.
