US Vice President JD Vance made headlines Thursday by firmly stating that the escalating India-Pakistan conflict is “fundamentally none of our business.” Speaking to Fox News, Vance emphasized that while the US urges both nations to de-escalate, Washington has no intention of getting militarily involved in a dispute it cannot control. His comments followed President Donald Trump's remarks calling the tensions “terrible,” where Trump expressed hope for a resolution and offered to mediate if needed, citing good relations with both India and Pakistan.
The statements come amid heightened hostilities, as India launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine terror camps in Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. On Thursday night, India also neutralized Pakistani missile and drone assaults targeting Jammu, Pathankot, and other military hubs. As regional tensions simmer, Vance's blunt stance signals a clear US policy of cautious distance- prioritizing diplomacy over intervention.
