China has expressed deep concern over the growing tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, India's preemptive strikes on nine terror camps across the border on May 7, 2025. In a statement, Beijing called for restraint, urging both nations to prioritize “peace and stability” and avoid further escalation.
The Indian military operation targeted critical infrastructures of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including camps in Bahawalpur and Muridke, as a retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
Following the strikes, Pakistani forces responded with heavy shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), intensifying border tensions. The United Nations and other international stakeholders are monitoring the volatile situation closely, advocating for dialogue and de-escalation.
While India defends the operation as a counter-terror move, China's call underscores rising geopolitical sensitivities in the region, as both nuclear-armed neighbours face mounting pressure to prevent a larger conflict.
