A Pakistani national attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) near Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts has been arrested and identified as a terrorist guide, officials confirmed on Monday, June 30.
According to security sources, the individual - identified as Arif - was caught during a routine border patrol. He was found in possession of a mobile phone and approximately ₹20,000 in Pakistani currency. During preliminary questioning, Arif admitted that he was well-acquainted with the topography of the area, as he hails from a village situated close to the LoC on the Pakistani side.
Authorities suspect Arif was helping to guide terrorist operatives across the border and may be part of a larger infiltration network. He is currently being interrogated by security and intelligence agencies to uncover further details about his mission, handlers, and possible links to terror outfits operating across the border.
Security has been tightened across the region as investigations continue.
