In a chilling development in the Kolkata law college gangrape case, police have stated that the three arrested accused had a history of sexually harassing students. Investigations reveal the assault was premeditated, and the trio had previously engaged in similar behavior within the hostel premises.
According to officials, the accused would record videos of the assaults on their mobile phones and later use the footage to intimidate and blackmail the victims into silence. These disturbing tactics were reportedly used to cover up earlier incidents and instill fear among students.
The case came to light after a first-year student alleged that she was drugged and raped inside the hostel. The matter has since sparked outrage, prompting student protests and political attention. The police have seized mobile phones for forensic analysis and are expanding the investigation to identify any additional victims or accomplices.
Authorities have assured strict action and enhanced safety measures on college campuses.
