The Pattinapakkam police on Sunday arrested a youth suspected of supplying ganja to a group of 10 individuals during a party held at a hotel in Chennai. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the premises and seized quantities of ganja that were allegedly being distributed among the guests.

According to sources, the youth had organized or supplied the narcotic substance specifically for the gathering. While all attendees were questioned, only the supplier was taken into custody under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are currently verifying whether the event was part of a broader network of drug distribution within the city.

The arrest comes amid heightened police surveillance in Chennai following a spate of drug-related incidents. In similar crackdowns earlier this year, hundreds of individuals have been arrested for possession, peddling, and consumption of banned substances. Police officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found promoting or consuming narcotics in public or private gatherings.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the source of the ganja and determine if more individuals were involved.
