India is witnessing a remarkable transformation-where once-polluted cities are now becoming models of eco-conscious development and sustainability. Seven Indian cities - Indore, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Lucknow, and Mysuru - are not only clean but also emerging as top eco-tourism destinations.
Indore, crowned India’s cleanest city for the eighth time, has invested in waste segregation, plastic recycling, and electric vehicles. Surat is turning into a smart city with waste-to-energy projects and tech-driven urban planning. Navi Mumbai stands out for its well-planned infrastructure, green buildings, and citizen-led sustainability campaigns.
Ahmedabad is aiming to become a zero-waste city by 2031. Bhopal has implemented smart transport, efficient sewage systems, and even partnered with UN-Habitat for sustainable initiatives. Lucknow earned the 7-star garbage-free city status-an incredible feat for a North Indian city. Mysuru, with its eco-friendly homes and green transport options, is setting an example in the south.
These cities are not just living spaces anymore-they're inspiring destinations for eco-conscious travelers seeking clean, green, and smart urban experiences.
