New Delhi, July 12, 2025 – Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Saturday emphasized that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau’s (AAIB) report on the June 12 Air India crash in Ahmedabad remains preliminary, warning that no definitive conclusions can be drawn from it. The minister highlighted that the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) captured only a very brief conversation between pilots, limiting the ability to determine the full context.
Mohol clarified that the AAIB’s probe continues to explore multiple angles, including whether mechanical failure or sabotage could have played a role - a line of inquiry not yet confirmed in the initial findings. He also affirmed that the ministry is not interfering with the autonomous investigation process.
While the preliminary AAIB report revealed that both engines lost fuel supply seconds after takeoff - captured in the conversation snippet - officials maintain it’s too early to attribute fault to pilots, systems, or external factors. The aviation ministry and AAIB both urge the public and media to await the final, comprehensive report before forming judgments.
