A new generation of Indian manufacturing innovation is emerging through Wootzwork, a New Delhi-based startup drawing inspiration from Asia’s centuries-old industrial heritage while solving modern supply-chain challenges. Founded in 2022, the company aims to simplify how global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) source complex components by managing procurement, engineering coordination, and production through a unified platform.
Instead of relying on a single factory, Wootzwork connects businesses to a network of more than 300 specialised suppliers across India and Southeast Asia. The model recognises that modern manufacturing rarely exists under one roof; efficiency comes from coordinating multiple expert producers. By combining supplier networks with in-house engineering expertise, the startup claims it can deliver faster turnaround times and competitive pricing without compromising quality.
The company’s name references ancient “wootz steel,” historically produced in South Asia and prized globally for its strength and craftsmanship — symbolising a revival of regional manufacturing excellence. Backed by a $6.6 million Series A funding round, Wootzwork now plans to expand operations in Europe and North America while investing further in AI-driven execution systems.
Its growth reflects a broader shift: India positioning itself not just as a low-cost hub, but as an integrated, high-quality global manufacturing partner.
