The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has carried out a highly coordinated insurgent operation in southwestern Pakistan, targeting 17 government and military sites in a single night. Dubbed “Operation Baam,” the offensive struck across multiple Balochistan districts—Panjgur, Surab, Kech, and Kharan—marking one of the most extensive militant actions in recent years.
Launched late on Tuesday, the attacks disrupted communication networks, damaged checkpoints and infrastructure, and rattled local administration, though initial casualty figures remain unconfirmed . In a statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch described the offensive as a new phase in Baloch resistance, spanning "from the Makran coast to the Koh‑e‑Suleman mountains" and intended to test the group's strategic reach.
Observers view Operation Baam as a deliberate escalation by the separatist BLF, spotlighting its increased capacity for synchronized strikes across vast territory. The offensive underscores persistent instability in the mineral-rich province, where grievances over political marginalisation and resource exploitation fuel ongoing insurgency.
In response, Pakistan’s security forces have launched search-and-clear operations in impacted areas. Communication networks in Kech and Panjgur remain disrupted, and the government has yet to issue a comprehensive damage or casualty report.
