We scroll, click, and chat with AI tools daily - but experts say this convenience might be slowly dulling our minds.
Recent research warns that over-reliance on AI and social media is reducing our ability to think deeply, recall information, and write creatively. Students especially are affected, as many now depend on AI summaries or instant answers instead of understanding topics themselves.
In one study, participants using AI-generated answers wrote generic, surface-level responses, while those who searched manually shared more thoughtful, nuanced ideas. Constant social media use adds to the problem - short videos and endless scrolling make our attention span shorter and our memory weaker.
Experts say it’s not too late. By using technology mindfully - as a helper, not a replacement - we can protect our brains from this silent digital decay.
