On July 24, 2025, air traffic controllers in Russia’s far eastern Amur region lost contact with an Antonov An‑24 passenger aircraft operated by Angara Airlines. The plane was approaching Tynda, near the Chinese border, with approximately 40–50 people onboard - including around 43 passengers (five of them children) and six crew members - when it vanished from radar just a few kilometers from its destination.
Regional governor Vasily Orlov announced on Telegram that all necessary forces and means have been deployed to locate the missing aircraft. According to Interfax and SHOT news, the loss of communication occurred during the final approach, underscoring the urgency of the situation . Search and rescue teams are now combing the remote area under challenging terrain and weather conditions.
This incident has immediately triggered a full-scale emergency response. Aviation authorities and Russia’s Emergencies Ministry are coordinating efforts amid deepening concern over the fate of those aboard. Updates are expected as the rescue mission continues.
