When it comes to English in schools, both CBSE and ICSE follow different teaching approaches.
CBSE focuses more on concise, exam-oriented content. The English curriculum is designed to help students perform well in competitive exams like CUET, JEE, and NEET. It emphasizes grammar, short answer writing, and reading comprehension. Students are trained to write to-the-point answers, making them efficient in time-bound exams.
In contrast, ICSE offers a more literature-rich and expressive English syllabus. It has separate papers for Literature and Language, encouraging students to dive deeper into stories, poems, and advanced writing formats. Creative writing, vocabulary building, and analytical skills are highly developed in this board.
While CBSE students learn quick and accurate writing, ICSE students become strong in expression and articulation. This gives ICSE students an edge in fields like media, law, literature, and the humanities.
If your goal is academic competition, CBSE is a smart choice. But if you're aiming for careers involving communication and creativity, ICSE gives you a strong foundation.
In the end, both boards have their strengths-your choice should match your learning style and career goals.
