In today’s hyper-connected world, students often check their phones more than 100 times a day — and lose hours of study time in the process. But a “digital-detox” mindset isn’t about ditching technology altogether. Rather, it’s about taking charge of when, how and why you use your device.
Start by establishing no-phone study zones: during revision or reading time, keep your phone out of reach and use apps like “Forest” or “Focus Mode” to block distractions. Next, set screen-free hours in your day — for example, from 7–9 p.m., switch to journaling, reading or quiet revision instead of scrolling. Finally, substitute “scroll time” with “mind time”: go for a walk, listen to music, meditate — these resets help your brain bring back focus faster.
And you don’t need to go full cold-turkey. Even reducing screen time by 30 minutes daily can boost your concentration, mood and academic performance. Make your phone a tool — not the boss of your study hours.
