In a twist that feels straight out of a Bollywood plot, a farmer in Rajasthan's Kishangarh has found himself in hot water after refusing to return ₹16 lakh accidentally deposited into his account by the Bank of Baroda.
Kanaram Jat, the farmer at the center of this unusual saga, allegedly received the hefty sum due to a banking error. But when the bank came knocking to reclaim the money, Jat reportedly refused, insisting the cash was now his to keep. His reasoning? It landed in his account fair and square!
Despite the bank's repeated pleas and attempts to resolve the matter amicably, Jat held his ground like a protagonist guarding buried treasure. Left with no other choice, the bank escalated the matter, involving the police to recover the funds.
The case has sparked lively debates, with some calling Jat bold for standing his ground and others raising eyebrows over his moral compass. Legal experts have chimed in, warning that keeping mistakenly deposited funds is not only ethically questionable but could also lead to criminal charges.
