In one of the largest employment notifications for early 2026, the Ministry of Railways has announced CEN 09/2025, a centralized recruitment drive for roughly 22,000 Level-1 vacancies. These roles are critical to the operational and maintenance backbone of Indian Railways, featuring positions such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Pointsman-B, and various Assistants in workshops, bridge, and carriage divisions. The drive is a major opportunity for entry-level job seekers, with a base salary starting at ₹18,000 (Level-1 of the 7th CPC) plus admissible allowances.
Key Details for Candidates:
• Eligibility: Applicants must be 10th-pass (Matriculation) or hold an ITI/National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
• Age Limit: 18–33 years as of January 1, 2026, with standard government relaxations for OBC (3 years), SC/ST (5 years), and PwBD (10 years) candidates.
• Application Window: Online registration begins on January 21, 2026, and closes on February 20, 2026.
• Selection Process: A rigorous three-stage process involving a 100-mark Computer Based Test (CBT) covering Math, Reasoning, Science, and General Awareness, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and final Document Verification/Medical Examination.
• Fees: ₹500 for General/OBC; ₹250 for SC/ST, Females, and Ex-SM (refundable upon appearing in the CBT).
This recruitment push highlights the government's continued focus on strengthening railway infrastructure and provides a stable career path for vocational and high-school graduates nationwide.
