India marked a significant infrastructure milestone with the inauguration of its second-longest cable-stayed bridge in Shivamogga, Karnataka. The visually striking bridge spans the Tunga River and extends 900 meters in length. Built at a cost of ₹130 crore, the bridge aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion and enhance connectivity between Shivamogga and surrounding regions.
The bridge was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the presence of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and several dignitaries. Equipped with modern lighting systems and safety features, the bridge not only improves mobility but is also poised to become a tourist attraction due to its architectural appeal.
This development is part of Karnataka’s ongoing efforts to modernize transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth in tier-2 cities. Apart from facilitating daily commutes, the bridge is expected to boost trade and logistics in the region by streamlining access to industrial hubs. It also reflects the government's commitment to merging functionality with aesthetics in public infrastructure.
