During a heated discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar issued a stinging rebuttal to opposition claims. He said: “Main unko kehna chahta hoon, woh kaan kholke sun le… from April 22 to June 16, not a single phone call took place between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi”.
Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s firm position that it will never accept third-party mediation in its bilateral issues with Pakistan, emphasizing that all dialogues must remain strictly between the two countries. He added that Pakistan must formally request a ceasefire through its DGMO for hostilities to end.
Addressing political opponents, Jaishankar accused them of clinging to a narrative of dependence on external actors, while highlighting that India’s military action compelled Pakistan to halt, not any U.S. diplomatic leverage or trade pressure. India insists its strategic autonomy is non-negotiable and that its decisions are taken unilaterally.
