On June 7, 2025, Delhi Police arrested 25-year-old Shlok Tripathi for allegedly issuing a death threat to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The threat was made via a call to the emergency helpline 112 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, during the night between Thursday and Friday. Tripathi, described by police as a suspected fraudster who frequently changes his identity, is currently being interrogated by the Special Cell in northwest Delhi.
Following the threat, Ghaziabad police alerted their Delhi counterparts and dispatched a team to Panchwati Colony, from where the call was reportedly made. Although the caller initially evaded capture, coordinated efforts led to Tripathi's apprehension .
The Delhi Police have since increased security measures for CM Rekha Gupta, who holds Z-category security, and are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of public officials and the misuse of emergency services. Authorities are working diligently to ensure the security of the Chief Minister and to prevent similar threats in the future.
