New NCERT science book reveals shocking ancient secrets you never studied!

The new NCERT Class 8 Science textbook, titled Curiosity, showcases India's rich scientific legacy by combining traditional Indian knowledge with modern discoveries. It introduces students to ancient concepts like Acharya Kanad’s Parmanu (atom) and links them to present-day missions by ISRO, such as Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, and Mangalyaan.

One chapter describes how ancient Indian astronomers, even 800 years ago, used tools like water bowls and tubes to observe reflections of celestial bodies-showing early knowledge of optics. Another section explores how India used alloys for medicinal use in ancient times, reflecting deep chemical understanding.

A part titled Our Scientific Heritage highlights how India practiced variolation-a method to prevent smallpox, long before modern vaccines existed. It also connects this to India's contribution during the Covid-19 pandemic, underlining the global impact of Indian vaccine manufacturers.

This integration aims to promote curiosity, environmental sensitivity, critical thinking, and ethics in young minds. The book isn't just informative-it’s a journey through time, showing how India's scientific roots remain relevant even today.
