Preamble like parenthood, cannot be altered: Vice President Dhankhar!

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar firmly stated that the Preamble of the Indian Constitution is akin to parenthood an origin that cannot be altered regardless of efforts made. Addressing concerns sparked by controversies around potential changes to the Constitution, Dhankhar clarified that the Preamble is fundamental and should remain untouched.

Speaking at an event, the Vice President emphasized that the Preamble is not merely an introductory note but the essence of India’s constitutional philosophy. His remarks come at a time when discussions over the omission or modification of certain words in the Preamble have triggered public and political debate.

Dhankhar urged citizens and lawmakers alike to treat the Constitution with reverence and not as a flexible document open to frequent reinterpretation. He stressed that attempts to question the foundational principles can undermine the democratic fabric of the nation.

The Vice President’s comments have been seen as a reaffirmation of the constitutional sanctity amidst ongoing tensions regarding ideological differences, particularly over the role of secularism and socialism as defined in the Preamble. His statement is expected to shape further discourse around constitutional integrity in the country.
