Innovative startups are rewriting the carbon story showing how CO₂ can be harnessed to fuel industries, materials, and consumer goods :-
- Dioxycle (French-American): Converts CO₂ into ethylene using water and electricity via proprietary electrolyzers crucial for jet fuel, textiles, and construction materials.
- Liquid Light (USA): Turns carbon emissions into a range of chemicals including glycol, solvents, and acetic acid, targeting a $27-billion market in Monoethylene Glycol (MEG).
- Air Company (USA): Distills captured CO₂ into premium carbon-negative vodka, with ambitions extending into a broader portfolio perfume, fuels, and more.
- Twelve (USA): Recasts CO₂ into industrial building blocks from sunglasses to carbon-neutral fuels partnering with Mercedes-Benz, NASA, and major consumer brands.
- CarbonCraft (India): Crafts eco-tiles out of captured carbon waste and marble chips each tile sequesters about 5 kg of CO₂ while serving architectural needs.
- Paebbl (Netherlands): Speeds up natural mineralisation to convert CO₂ into stone-like materials instantly useful in concrete and paper, offering permanent storage and value.
- CO2 Diamonds (Portugal): Turns CO₂ into lab-grown diamonds, combining high-fashion appeal with climate positivity, via a zero-investment global partnership model.
- Neustark (Switzerland): Mineralizes CO₂ into concrete using demolition waste locking away carbon sustainably and enabling reuse in infrastructure projects.
These ventures illustrate carbon’s evolution from liability to asset fueling industries, building materials, luxury goods, and more. Their breakthroughs provide diverse, scalable pathways for emissions to be upcycled into environmental and economic wins.
