A recent AuthBridge report has revealed that 20% of gig workers across sectors like e-commerce, food delivery, and ride-hailing fail to clear address verification checks. The main reasons include frequent relocations, temporary accommodations, and shared housing situations, making proper verification challenging. These lapses impair the ability to validate and track delivery agents, raising red flags for customer safety and service reliability.
Beyond address issues, the report notes an overall discrepancy rate of 4%, with some workers linked to fake identities or legal offenses. About 3.5% had criminal records ranging from theft to assault. The implications are significant: impersonation and fraud cases can expose customers to security threats and erode faith in digital platforms.
This report underscores the urgent need for robust, tech-driven verification systems including biometric checks, real-time geolocation tools, and periodic screenings to safeguard both households and gig economies. As operations scale, ensuring trust and transparency in the last mile is not optional it’s essential.
