A coalition of 109 humanitarian and human rights organizations—including Mercy Corps, Norwegian Refugee Council, and Doctors Without Borders—has urgently warned of “mass starvation” engulfing Gaza, appealing for an immediate and permanent ceasefire alongside full humanitarian access.
An alarming 10 deaths occurred within just 24 hours. Aid agencies describe stark scenarios where even aid workers face hunger: “our colleagues and those we serve are wasting away”
The crisis has been exacerbated by Israeli restrictions obstructing the delivery of food, clean water, and medicine—much of it stalled near Gaza’s borders. Critics highlight that aid distribution via the U.S.– and Israeli–backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has led to deadly incidents; UN data suggest more than 800 Palestinians were killed while seeking food, many near GHF centers. Over 170 NGOs have denounced GHF’s militarized approach and urged a return to UN-coordinated aid.
Israeli officials reject famine claims, insisting humanitarian aid is entering Gaza—however, aid groups argue access remains insufficient.
