RBI just made a key move - new director, new direction?

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Kesavan Ramachandran as Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. In his new role, Ramachandran will oversee the Department of Regulation's Prudential Regulation Division.

Previously serving as Principal Chief General Manager in the Risk Monitoring Department, Ramachandran brings over three decades of experience in currency management, banking supervision, and administration. He has served as Principal of the Reserve Bank Staff College and was RBI's nominee on Canara Bank's Board for five years.

Ramachandran holds an MBA in Banking and Finance, a diploma in International Financial Reporting from ACCA, UK, and is a Certified Associate of IIBF. This appointment follows the March promotion of Indranil Bhattacharyya as Executive Director for Economic and Policy Research.
