What's causing sudden deaths in Karnataka?

As panic grows over a spate of sudden deaths in Karnataka, the Union Health Ministry has issued a clarification - there is no link between these incidents and COVID-19 vaccines. Responding to public concern and speculation, the Ministry cited findings from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), stating that COVID-19 vaccines administered in India remain safe, effective, and have only extremely rare instances of serious side effects.

The government emphasized that extensive data from across the country has been continuously monitored since the vaccine rollout began. Most adverse events were found to be minor and temporary. Health authorities are urging people not to fall for misinformation and to trust verified health data.

This statement comes amid rising social media chatter and regional media reports pointing fingers at vaccines following unexplained deaths, especially among young individuals. The Ministry’s firm stand aims to curb vaccine hesitancy and reinforce public confidence in India’s vaccination program.
