CBSE now mandates 'Oil Boards' in schools to promote healthier eating!

In its latest effort to promote healthier lifestyles among school children, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular instructing affiliated schools to display ‘Oil Boards’ on campus. These boards are meant to educate students about the dangers of consuming food high in oil content, including increased risks of obesity, heart disease, and other lifestyle-related conditions.

This follows a similar directive from earlier this year when CBSE asked schools to put up ‘Sugar Boards’, raising awareness about the health hazards of excessive sugar intake. The move is part of a larger initiative to instill better eating habits from a young age.

The circular also encourages interactive sessions, poster-making competitions, and discussion forums around healthy nutrition. Schools are being urged to ensure that canteens and tiffins also reflect these values, reducing the availability of fried and fatty foods.

By putting health literacy front and center, CBSE aims to build long-term awareness and curb the rise in childhood obesity and other diet-related issues across the country.
