Rajesh Narwal, father of 26-year-old Navy lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, expressed deep anguish and wounded pride while praising India’s security forces. Addressing Pakistani General Asim Munir, Narwal said: “They will know pain the day we do”, signaling resolve and grief in equal measure .
Narwal emphasized that Operation Sindoor, the Indian military response, was the “correct answer” to terrorism, framing it as a necessary blow “where it hurts” to the perpetrators. He invoked stark language, likening terrorists to insects that must be eradicated . He also shared his personal loss: “The family has to live with the pain of losing their son. For us, my government has given an answer,” he said .
Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was cremated with full military honors in Karnal, Haryana, where the state announced ₹50 lakh ex-gratia and a government job for his family . The attack claimed 26 lives and is considered among the deadliest civilian terror strikes in India since Mumbai 2008 .
