Mumbai is once again battling the fury of the monsoon, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an orange alert until Tuesday. The city is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with strong winds adding to the woes. Local trains, buses, and road traffic have already been impacted, and commuters are facing long delays due to waterlogged streets.
Airlines including IndiGo and Akasa Air have released advisories, cautioning passengers to leave early for the airport and prepare for flight delays. Mumbai’s municipal authorities have activated emergency response teams to deal with flooding, while rail services are running under restrictions to avoid accidents.
Residents are advised to stay indoors unless travel is absolutely necessary, as continuous downpours are expected to persist through the day. With already saturated roads and strained drainage systems, even moderate rainfall could worsen flooding in vulnerable pockets of the city.
For now, Mumbaikars are urged to remain cautious, follow updates, and stay prepared as the monsoon continues to tighten its grip on India’s financial capital.
