In a calculated move, the BJP Parliamentary Board, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, nominated Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice-President of India election slated for September 9.

Radhakrishnan’s political journey began as a grassroots worker in the RSS and Jan Sangh. He went on to serve as a two-term Member of Parliament representing Coimbatore in the Lok Sabha, followed by roles as the Governor of Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and additional charges in Telangana and Puducherry.

Born in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, he is widely respected across political circles in both North and South India. His elevation signals the NDA’s effort to strike a balance across ideology, regional representation, and organizational hierarchy while also addressing past criticisms tied to non-representative candidate selection.

Upon his nomination, Radhakrishnan expressed gratitude to PM Modi and committed to serve the nation wholeheartedly “till his last breath.”
