These Bollywood flops bombed at the box office, but are now fan obsessions!

Not every Bollywood film that flops at the box office fades into oblivion. In fact, some of the most beloved cult classics today were once considered commercial failures. A recent feature by Zee News revisits these cinematic underdogs that, despite disappointing theatrical runs, went on to win hearts over time.

One of the most talked-about examples is Aaja Nachle (2007), marking Madhuri Dixit’s return to the silver screen. While the film faced backlash and even bans in some regions due to a controversial lyric, its dance sequences and Dixit’s captivating performance earned it long-term praise from fans and dance enthusiasts.

Similarly, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani (2002) was widely ridiculed for its bizarre plot and questionable special effects. However, its over-the-top drama and unintentionally humorous scenes helped it find a loyal fanbase, especially among viewers who enjoy "so-bad-it's-good" cinema.

Films like Dhadak (2018) and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008) also saw mixed or mild responses at the time of release but later gained popularity, particularly with younger audiences.

These films prove that a movie’s worth isn’t always measured by its initial earnings—it’s the lasting emotional connection with the audience that ultimately defines its legacy.
